Detection of low glucose levels in sweat with colorimetric wearable biosensors

نویسندگان

چکیده

Colorimetric wearable biosensors made of paper detect glucose in sweat using a smartphone as reader. Measurements correlated well with blood levels, these devices could be used “over-the-counter” tests for monitoring glucose.

A soft, wearable microfluidic device for the capture, storage, and colorimetric sensing of sweat.

Capabilities in health monitoring enabled by capture and quantitative chemical analysis of sweat could complement, or potentially obviate the need for, approaches based on sporadic assessment of blood samples. Established sweat monitoring technologies use simple fabric swatches and are limited to basic analysis in controlled laboratory or hospital settings. We present a collection of materials ...

WEARABLE MICRO-FLUIDIC pH SWEAT SENSING DEVICE BASED ON COLORIMETRIC IMAGING TECHNIQUES

In this paper a wearable electronic-free micro-fluidic device for the continuous monitoring of pH in sweat during exercise is described. The sensing capability is based on ionogels, ionic liquid hydrogels, containing pH sensitive dyes capable of reporting pH activity in the range from 3 to 10. Previously, we reported a flexible micro-fluidic barcode capable of measuring the pH of sweat in real ...

Penicillin Detection by Tobacco Mosaic Virus-Assisted Colorimetric Biosensors

The presentation of enzymes on viral scaffolds has beneficial effects such as an increased enzyme loading and a prolonged reusability in comparison to conventional immobilization platforms. Here, we used modified tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) nanorods as enzyme carriers in penicillin G detection for the first time. Penicillinase enzymes were conjugated with streptavidin and coupled to TMV rods by ...

Wearable/disposable sweat-based glucose monitoring device with multistage transdermal drug delivery module

Electrochemical analysis of sweat using soft bioelectronics on human skin provides a new route for noninvasive glucose monitoring without painful blood collection. However, sweat-based glucose sensing still faces many challenges, such as difficulty in sweat collection, activity variation of glucose oxidase due to lactic acid secretion and ambient temperature changes, and delamination of the enz...
